Girardi discusses key to 2016 season in Q&A

April 3rd, 2016

With a full spring to evaluate his roster, Yankees manager Joe Girardi said he likes the depth of his team going into the 2016 season, and he believes the key to the season will be keeping Jacoby Ellsbury and Brett Gardner on the field.
Girardi recently joined MLB.com for a video interview, touching on a variety of topics surrounding the club. Girardi saw how dynamic a combination that Ellsbury and Gardner created early last season, and he will be looking for them to replicate that performance.
"I think it's key for our outfielders to be healthy, keeping Gardy and Ells healthy, because they make a difference," Girardi said. "For those guys, they don't necessarily need home runs to score from first, or doubles to score from second. Those guys are important to our offense and they create a lot of problems."
