Cubs left-hander Jon Lester was named National League Pitcher of the Month on Saturday. This is his fourth career Pitcher of the Month honor and first in the NL.
In six starts last month, the Cubs hurler went 4-0 with a 1.41 ERA and had 44 strikeouts. The three-time All-Star also tied for first in the Majors in innings pitched during the month (44 2/3) and was tied for first among NL pitchers in wins.
Teammate Jake Arrieta was the last Cubs hurler to claim Pitcher of the Month honors, winning for April of this season.
