WEST SACRAMENTO -- The Athletics have acquired catcher from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for cash considerations, the club announced on Monday. In addition, the A’s placed catcher on the paternity list.

Heim, 30, was designated for assignment by the Braves. He was batting .231 with four doubles, one home run, a .311 on-base percentage, and a .721 OPS in 12 games as the backup catcher for Atlanta. Overall, the switch-hitter is batting .225 with 91 doubles and 69 home runs in 620 career Major League games with the A’s (2020), Texas Rangers (2021-25), and Braves (2026). He was a member of the 2023 World Series Champion Texas Rangers.

Heim made his Major League debut on Aug. 25, 2020, as a member of the A’s. He was traded to Texas following that season, along with designated hitter Khris Davis and right-handed pitcher Dane Acker, in exchange for shortstop Elvis Andrus and catcher Aramis Garcia. In 13 games with the A’s, he batted .211 with five RBI.
