D-backs outfielder Jordan Lawlar is expected to miss six to nine weeks with a broken right wrist, manager Torey Lovullo announced Friday.
Lawlar suffered the injury in the seventh inning of Thursday's 17-2 loss to the Braves when Osvaldo Bido plunked him with a 94.3 mph sinker. Initial X-rays came back negative, but a CT scan revealed a fracture.
The timing is particularly tough for Lawlar, a former top prospect who appeared on the verge of a breakout. Lawlar hit his first career homer on Thursday and slashed .333/.400/.556 in his first six games. He was also impressing in his transition from the infield, starting games in both center and left field.
The D-backs called up C/DH Adrian Del Castillo to take Lawlar's spot on the 26-man roster.
