Facing left-handed pitching three times in a span of four days would usually be considered a field day for outfielder Jordan Luplow. Instead, he’ll likely be on the sidelines due to some discomfort in his upper leg. 
 
According to Indians manager Terry Francona, Luplow landed awkwardly on first base in his last at-bat on Saturday night, but it wasn’t until Sunday that his left groin felt sore. The Indians are planning to give Luplow a day or two to determine the severity of the injury before deciding whether it will require a stint on the injured list. 
 
“They’re going to take him out today and run him and see how he does,” Francona said. “We just weren’t comfortable putting him out there today quite yet.” 
 
The Indians had Daniel Johnson on the roster as an extra outfielder over the last two days, but because he’s a left-handed bat, the team wanted to explore another option to face all the upcoming southpaws. So Cleveland optioned Johnson back to the alternate training site and called up outfielder Harold Ramirez. 
 
“Just having Harold, having the extra right-handed bat, seemed like it would help us,” Francona said. 
 
Ramirez was a late addition to Cleveland's roster this spring. He owned a .167 average with one double in 18 Cactus League at-bats. But the 26-year-old brings the same type of defensive versatility that Luplow does, as he’s able to play all three outfield spots. 
 
“I’m glad we got to know him in Spring Training, because he’s kind of the same -- good energy, played all three outfield positions, showed up with a smile,” Francona said. “He’s an aggressive hitter, we know that. But he can get to a good fastball. I think he’s going to help us. I don’t know how this configures as we move forward, but for tonight, he’s going to play center and we’ll see where it goes from there.” 
 
Other roster moves 
 
The Indians also reinstated Franmil Reyes from the paternity list and optioned reliever Kyle Nelson back to the alternate training site. 
 
“[Reyes is] our everyday DH. It’s great to have him back,” Francona said. “I do think it was good for -- it got Eddie [Rosario] off his feet yesterday and [Josh] Naylor the day before [by freeing up the DH spot], but we’ll take Franmil back anyway.”
