Ramírez earns All-MLB First Team honors for 2nd straight year

November 14th, 2025

CLEVELAND -- Add another honor to Guardians third baseman José Ramírez’s decorated résumé.

Ramírez was named to the 2025 All-MLB First Team presented by MGM Rewards on Thursday as part of the All-MLB Awards Show in Las Vegas. It marks his fourth All-MLB Team selection and his second First-Team nod, which he also earned last year.

Ramírez topped a group of third basemen that included Alex Bregman, Junior Caminero, Manny Machado and Eugenio Suárez.

The All-MLB Team was established in 2019. It honors the top player at each position in a season and considers regular-season performance only. A panel of experts and online fan balloting each account for 50 percent of the vote.

Cleveland fans have long had a front-row seat to Ramírez’s greatness, and he was again one of the best all-around players in MLB in his 13th big league season.

Over 158 games in 2025, Ramírez slashed .283/.360/.503 with 34 doubles, 30 homers, 85 RBIs and a career-high 44 stolen bases. His .863 OPS ranked first among qualified third basemen, and he recorded 6.3 wins above replacement (per FanGraphs) -- tied with Francisco Lindor for eighth among all MLB position players.

Ramírez also recorded a career-high 39-game on-base streak (April 30-June 14), a stretch that included a career-high 21-game hitting streak (May 6-28).

Among other personal achievements, Ramírez earned his seventh All-Star nod (one shy of tying Bob Feller’s franchise record) and his sixth Silver Slugger Award (extending his Cleveland franchise record). He was also a finalist for the AL MVP Award and the AL’s Gold Glove Award at third base.

“He’s the best all-around third baseman in baseball,” manager Stephen Vogt said this past season, following Ramírez’s latest All-Star nod. “He's one of the top five players, in my opinion.

“Hosey exemplifies what it means to be a professional baseball player on the field, and he plays the game the right way. I'm just thankful I get to watch him do it every day.”
