MILWAUKEE -- and homered off Brewers ace Jacob Misiorowski and Chase Burns pitched six strong innings as the Reds defeated them 7-2 on Thursday afternoon to avoid a sweep in the four-game series.

TJ Friedl also homered for the Reds, who halted a seven-game losing streak to the Brewers dating back to last season.

Stewart, the Reds' second batter of the game, tagged fire-balling Misiorowski’s 102.3 mph fastball for a solo homer. It marked the fastest pitch a Reds player has connected on for a homer under pitch tracking (started in 2008) and the eighth-fastest home run pitch overall during that span.

In the third, Reds left fielder JJ Bleday robbed Christian Yelich of a potential home run with a runner on.

The Reds erupted for four runs in the fourth, the first coming on Noelvi Marte’s RBI single. Trevino belted a two-out, three-run homer, his first of the season and first since June 8 of last season, to extend the lead to 5-0.

The Brewers got their first run off Burns in the fifth on Garrett Mitchell’s solo home run. Milwaukee added another run in the sixth when Jackson Chourio singled and scored on Brice Turang’s double.

Friedl put the Reds back in front by four with a solo homer off Grant Anderson in the seventh. His RBI single in the eighth extended the lead to 7-2.

Burns (10-1) allowed four hits and two runs across six innings. He walked two and struck out four while throwing 89 pitches (55 strikes).

Misiorowski (9-4) gave up five hits and five runs (one earned) in five innings. He struck out 10 and didn’t walk a batter in the 82-pitch outing.
