ANAHEIM – Texas Rangers third baseman was removed from Saturday night’s game against the Los Angeles Angels in the bottom of the fourth inning due to left shoulder soreness.

The move was announced as a defensive substitution, with Michael Helman entering the game at shortstop and Ezequiel Duran shifting from shortstop to third base.

Jung may have sustained the injury in the third inning while making a diving stop on a hard-hit ground ball by Zach Neto.

The Rangers third baseman, who went 0-for-2 before exiting, has been a key part of the Rangers' lineup this season, slashing .302/.357/.462 over 48 games.

There was no immediate word on the severity of the injury or his status moving forward.
