NORTH PORT, Fla. -- Jurickson Profar, who was suspended for half of his first season with the Braves after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug, has tested positive again.

Profar was suspended for 162 games by Major League Baseball on Tuesday for being in violation of MLB's Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program, after testing positive for Exogenous Testosterone and its metabolites.

In a statement, MLB said the suspension will become effective on Friday.

Since this is Profar's second positive test, he will be suspended for 162 games without pay and is barred from participating in any postseason or World Baseball Classic games. The Braves will not owe him his $15 million salary this year.

The Braves issued the following statement:

"We were incredibly disappointed to learn that Jurickson Profar tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance and is in violation of MLB's Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Our players are consistently educated about the Program and the consequences if they are found to be in violation. The Atlanta Braves fully support the Program."

Profar, who served an 80-game suspension last year, left Braves camp this past weekend with the plan to compete for The Netherlands in the WBC this week. He was a late scratch from the Team Netherlands lineup in Tuesday’s exhibition game against the Orioles.

Profar signed a three-year, $42 million deal with the Braves in January 2025. He played four games for Atlanta before receiving his first PED suspension. He was then activated on July 2 and finished the season hitting .245/.353/.434 over 80 games.
