LOS ANGELES -- X-rays were negative on the left hand of Dodgers third baseman Justin Turner, who was hit by pitches twice in Wednesday night's 3-1 win over the D-backs.
Reigniting the long-running feud between the clubs, warnings were issued after the second time Turner was plunked, as Arizona manager Chip Hale complained to home-plate umpire Brian Gorman that Dodgers pitching coach Rick Honeycutt was chirping from the dugout that Turner was hit intentionally.
Turner has already been hit three times in nine games after being hit 13 times last year. Joc Pederson also was hit by a pitch the inning between Turner's two plunkings. In Tuesday's series opener, two D-backs and one Dodger were hit by pitches and no warnings were issued.
"[Turner] is just sore," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "I think that's the extent, there's some swelling. We'll kinda talk about it tomorrow, but I think at some point in time the next couple of days, I want to give him a blow anyway. We'll have that conversation, but he's fine.
"As far as Brian Gorman issuing a warning to both teams, I think that's what he has to do when he hears some jawing back and forth. That's kind of what they have to do. Last one was a breaking ball to [Turner] that hit him in a good spot. The other two, they came in and hit [Turner] twice, once with the fastball. They pitch in."
Roberts is new to the Dodgers' feud with the D-backs, but tempers flaring isn't new to the teams, which have had bad blood for years. Among the most notable incidents are the Zack Greinke-Ian Kennedy brawl and the Dodgers' celebratory swim in the Chase Field pool after clinching the division title in 2013.
