's Single-A debut could not have gone any better.

Wing -- the Cubs No. 12 prospect, per MLB Pipeline -- fired four scoreless innings in his first start for Single-A Myrtle Beach on Friday night. The 19-year-old right-hander allowed one hit while recording six strikeouts and did not walk a batter in the Pelicans' 3-2 loss to Kannapolis.

Relying heavily on a high-spin fastball with plus movement, Wing threw 51 pitches (34 strikes) and generated 10 whiffs on 23 swings from Cannonball hitters. He rounds out his arsenal with a changeup and a curveball.

Chicago selected Wing out of high school in the fourth round of the 2025 Draft, paying him more than double slot value at $1.5 million. He made his professional debut earlier this season, pitching to a 6.75 ERA in three starts for the organization’s Arizona Complex League team in Arizona. Wing earned his promotion to Single-A earlier this week.

Wing is the Cubs’ second-highest ranked pitching prospect behind only right-hander Jaxon Wiggins, the organization’s No. 3 prospect. In recent years, Chicago has graduated righty Cade Horton -- the runner-up in the 2025 National League Rookie of the Year voting -- and this year’s breakout star, righty Ben Brown, from its farm system.
