Kenny Williams played parts of six seasons with the White Sox, Tigers, Blue Jays and Expos, but his second career in baseball has proven to be far lengthier and quite successful.
A native of San Jose, Calif., Williams spent 12 years as the White Sox general manager, moving into the role of executive vice president in 2012. He put together the team that ended Chicago's 88-year championship drought in 2005, and while the Sox haven't been back to the World Series since that magical season, the current rebuilding plan has invigorated the 54-year-old executive.
Williams sat down with MLB.com executive reporter Mark Feinsand at the team's Spring Training complex in Glendale, Ariz., to discuss his decision to pursue baseball over football, what it meant to him to become only the third African-American general manager in baseball history and much more.
