The Mets placed on the 15-day injured list on Tuesday with lumbar spine inflammation. Right-hander Christian Scott was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse in a corresponding move.

Senga -- who also missed some time during the 2025 season with a hamstring strain he suffered in June -- has struggled early on this season. The three runs he allowed over 2 2/3 innings in his most recent outing against the Rockies bloated his ERA to 17.28 over his past three starts.

After that start against Colorado, manager Carlos Mendoza said he and other team officials would huddle to determine how to proceed with Senga. The right-hander, who accepted a Minor League option last season under similar circumstances, said he was not sure if he would do it again if asked.

“I think that warrants a lot of discussions with a lot of different people,” Senga said. “I can’t give you a yes or no right now.”

Ultimately, the decision was made to place Senga on the injured list with Scott taking his place in the rotation. Scott had a rocky first start of the season, walking five and hitting a batter over 1 1/3 innings, though he only allowed one run.
