ANAHEIM -- While the Astros got relatively good news on Tuesday regarding infielder Nick Allen’s left hamstring injury, the same couldn’t be said concerning veteran outfielder

Wade, who was removed from Monday’s 5-4 extra-inning win over the Angels with a right hamstring strain, could be facing a lengthy recovery, manager Joe Espada said. Wade was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, and outfielder was called up from Triple-A Sugar Land.

Wade, signed by the Astros last week, played in only four games with the club before the injury. He was 4-for-12 with a homer and 4 RBIs.

“His diagnosis was not as encouraging as Allen, but we’re going to see how he progresses,” Espada said.

Allen was at Angel Stadium prior to Tuesday's game and received treatment. He said he was diagnosed with a Grade 1-plus hamstring strain, which is minor. He hopes he can return to action when his 10 days are up. Allen then headed to San Diego for the birth of his first child.

Allen was removed from Sunday’s 5-0 loss against the A’s in Houston after straining his hamstring while running the bases. He was slashing .250/.290/.328 with a homer in 70 plate appearances before being put on the IL.

Loperfido was in the Astros’ lineup on Tuesday for the first time since April 17, when he suffered a quad strain that kept him out nearly two months. He was slashing .276/.348/.362 in 20 games to begin the season before getting injured.
