New Crew voice Grindle eager to get started

April 2nd, 2016

MILWAUKEE -- Add Lane Grindle to the list of Brewers preparing for his first Opening Day.
Grindle joined the Brewers' radio broadcast team in February from the University of Nebraska, where his duties included baseball play-by-play and various work on football broadcasts. He joined the Brewers' booth behind Bob Uecker and Jeff Levering after the Pirates hired away Joe Block just before the start of Spring Training.

Grindle will produce podcasts and other website content, and will call games alongside Levering when Uecker does not travel with the team.
"It's an exciting position, because it's a utility man-type position," Grindle said. "I'll be broadcasting somewhere between 40, 50, 60 games -- that's to be determined as the season unfolds. It really depends on [Uecker's] schedule and how Bob wants to cut up the road trips. On top of that, I'm going to be doing some podcasting, some blogging as well, for brewers.com. And I think that's exciting as well. That's going to help me get my arms wrapped around the club, right out of the gate, and get to know a lot of these guys."
