Oakland A's left-handed pitcher Patrick Schuster was claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Phillies, the club announced today.
 
Schuster was designated for assignment on Wednesday when the A's selected Ross Detwiler from Nashville. He compiled a 10.80 ERA and .321 opponents batting average in five relief appearances over two stints with Oakland. Schuster was recalled most recently on Aug. 6 and made his only appearance that day against the Cubs, tossing 2.0 scoreless innings.
