Mariners RHP Logan Gilbert Named American League Player of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Major League Baseball announced today that Mariners right-handed pitcher Logan Gilbert was named American League Player of the Week for the week of June 15-21. It is the second Player of the Week honor for Gilbert (also: July 3-9, 2023) and the first Mariners pitcher to win the award since he last was named Player of the Week. Gilbert is the first Mariners player since Cal Raleigh (June 16-22, 2025) to earn Player of the Week honors.

Gilbert, 29, made two starts during the week, with the Mariners earning 3-1 wins in both contests. He tossed 7.0 innings allowing just 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk with a season-high 10 strikeouts against the Orioles on Tuesday Gilbert, who celebrated his first Father’s Day since the birth of his first child on Sunday, marked the occasion with 6.1 innings allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks with 8 strikeouts against the Red Sox. Over the two starts, he held hitters to a .116 (5x43) average with only 2 extra-base hits and a .401 OPS.

Gilbert has appeared in parts of 6 Major League seasons (2021-c), all with the Mariners. In 162 career starts, he is 53-40 with 2 CG (1 ShO), a 3.55 ERA (366 ER, 928.1 IP), 203 walks, 984 strikeouts and a 1.05 WHIP. He was named an All-Star in 2024. The Florida-native was selected by the Mariners in the 1st round (14th overall) of the 2018 MLB First-Year Player Draft. Gilbert ranks among the franchise leaders (min. 500 IP) in ERA (5th), strikeouts (5th), starts (7th), SO/9 (3rd, 9.54), SO/BB (2nd, 4.85), Opp. AVG (2nd, .221) and WHIP (1st).
