The Giants placed right-hander Logan Webb and closer Jake McGee on the injured list with “lingering effects” from the second dose of their COVID-19 vaccine prior to Sunday’s series finale against the Marlins at IoanDepot park.

There is no minimum stay for players who are placed on the COVID-19 IL, and the Giants said, “Our hope is that they will be back to normal in the next day or two.”

McGee was unlikely to be available after throwing a season-high 35 pitches against the Marlins on Saturday. The 34-year-old veteran took his first blown save of the year after giving up two runs in the bottom of the ninth, and the Giants ultimately fell, 7-6, in 10 innings.

Webb, 24, is expected to start against the Phillies in place of the injured Johnny Cueto on Tuesday.

In a pair of corresponding moves, the Giants activated left-hander Alex Wood off the 10-day IL and recalled catcher Chadwick Tromp from the alternate training site. Wood, who missed the first couple of weeks of the regular season with a lower back strain, started against the Marlins on Sunday in his Giants debut.

The Giants added Tromp to their roster to give them more coverage behind the plate, as Buster Posey is dealing with swelling in his left elbow after being hit by a pitch from Marlins right-hander Sandy Alcantara on Saturday.
