Busch tapping into power at Double-A

September 5th, 2021

Highly regarded Dodgers prospect put on a show for the Double-A Drillers on Saturday night.

The club's No. 3 prospect -- and the No. 78 overall prospect, according to MLB Pipeline -- went 3-for-3 in his first professional multihomer game with a career-high six RBIs. Busch added a double, a walk and a sacrifice fly in Tulsa's 15-3 win over Springfield.

Busch, the 31st overall pick by Los Angeles in 2019, hit a two-run homer to right-center field in the second inning and added a three-run shot to right-center in the fifth. He then doubled to right to lead off the seventh before coming around to score his third run of the night.

Busch's big night came on the heels of a four-hit night on Friday -- and another four-hit game on Tuesday. The infielder is hitting .342 over his last 19 games, while turning in 10 multihit efforts during that span.

Though he's spent most of the season at second base, the 23-year-old has also gotten some work at first base in recent weeks. He has spent the past three games serving as Tulsa's designated hitter.
