This is what perfection looks like.
LSU Shreveport capped a 59-0 season with its first NAIA national championship, defeating Southeastern University, 13-7, on Friday in Lewiston, Idaho.
The Pilots became the first team in college baseball history to finish a season undefeated.
Despite the relatively decisive final score, LSU Shreveport trailed, 4-0, after an inning and a half, and the Pilots didn't take the lead for good until their four-run bottom of the sixth.
LSU Shreveport outscored NAIA World Series opponents 49-17, continuing a trend of one-sided victories. The Pilots had 27 double-digit wins, including scores of 37-0 and 42-4 over Texas College in March.
For the season, LSU Shreveport owned a slash line of .361/.493/.601. To put that in perspective, only eight qualifiers have achieved those numbers over a full season in AL/NL history. Every Pilots player with at least 100 at-bats hit over .300. Three -- Ryan Davenport, Anthony Swenda and the appropriately named Josh Gibson -- topped .400.
After a history-making season, the Pilots have only one question to answer: What will they do for a 2026 encore?
