The Cubs recalled right-handed pitcher Luke Farrell from Triple-A Iowa on Monday and optioned right-hander Justin Hancock to Triple-A Iowa.
The 26-year-old Farrell joins the Cubs for the second time this season, having gone 1-2 with a 7.94 ERA in six relief outings during his first stint. He has made five starts for Iowa this season, going 0-2 with a 4.94 ERA. Farrell turned in a 2.61 ERA in nine relief outings upon joining the Reds last year.
Farrell is a native of Westlake, Ohio, and was originally selected by the Royals in the sixth round of the 2013 Draft out of Northwestern University.
