NEW YORK -- Luke Keaschall delivered two clutch RBI singles and the Twins' bullpen turned in a superb performance as Minnesota clawed back for a hard-fought win against the Mets, 5-3, at Citi Field on Tuesday night.
The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Twins, putting them back above .500 at 12-11.
Keaschall, who has searched for the consistent form that made him one of the bright spots of the Twins’ 2025 season, singled in the tying and go-ahead runs against relievers Huascar Brazobán and Devin Williams. Minnesota trailed, 3-0, in the sixth inning before coming back.
Held hitless through five innings by a dominant Nolan McLean, the visitors started inching back in the sixth. Matt Wallner delivered the Twins’ first hit to lead off the inning, and three batters later, Byron Buxton hit a massive home run to cut the Mets’ lead to one.
Following a Kody Clemens double in the seventh, Keaschall singled up the middle to tie the game. It remained 3-3 into the ninth, when Williams issued a pair of walks to open the frame. Clemens laid down a sacrifice bunt, but the Mets couldn’t get an out on the play, and Keaschall hit a chopper through a drawn-in infield for the Twins’ first lead. Wallner drew a bases-loaded walk for the final margin.
The comeback made a winner of Cole Sands, but the entire Twins bullpen pitched brilliantly after a rough weekend at home against the Reds. Anthony Banda, Justin Topa and Sands all turned in quality work in relief of Simeon Woods Richardson.
