While perennial All-Stars Robinson Cano and Nelson Cruz again lead the contingent of Mariners on this year's Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot, Seattle could have a new contender for the Midsummer Classic with the arrival of Jean Segura.
The 26-year-old Segura was a 2013 All-Star with the Brewers, and he's hit extremely well in the early going for the Mariners, despite missing 12 games with a strained right hamstring. After leading the National League in hits last year for the D-backs, Segura certainly has All-Star credentials, though he'll have plenty of competition on the AL ballot from the likes of Xander Bogaerts of Boston, Francisco Lindor of Cleveland and Carlos Correa of Houston.

The ballot was released on Monday by Major League Baseball, and the Mariners have nine candidates, including Cano, Cruz and third baseman Kyle Seager. Cano is a seven-time All-Star second baseman and was Seattle's lone selection last year, Cruz is a four-time All-Star who is on the ballot at designated hitter again this year and Seager was a 2014 selection at the hot corner.

Rookie right fielder Mitch Haniger put up All-Star-worthy numbers in the opening month of the season, but he's going to spend at least the next three weeks on the disabled list with a strained right oblique.
Also on the ballot for the Mariners are outfielders Jarrod Dyson and Guillermo Heredia, first baseman Danny Valencia and catcher Mike Zunino.
Fan voting is used to determine the starting position players, while reserves and pitchers are selected by the players and managers.

Fans may cast votes for starters at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- on computers, tablets and smartphones -- exclusively online using the 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Ballot until Thursday, June 29, at 8:59 p.m. PT. On smartphones and tablets, fans can also access the ballot via the MLB.com At Bat and MLB.com Ballpark mobile apps. Vote up to five times in any 24-hour period for a maximum of 35 ballots cast.
Following the announcement of the 2017 All-Star starters, reserves and pitchers, fans should return to MLB.com and cast their 2017 Esurance MLB All-Star Game Final Vote for the final player on each league's All-Star roster. Then on Tuesday, July 11, while watching the 2017 All-Star Game presented by MasterCard live on FOX, fans may visit MLB.com to submit their choices for the Ted Williams Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet with the 2017 MLB All-Star Game MVP Vote.
