Mariners Recall RHP Troy Taylor from Triple-A Tacoma

SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:

  • Troy Taylor, RHP, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
  • Andrés Muñoz, RHP, placed on the 15-day Injured List (right knee inflammation).

Taylor, 25, made 54 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma this season, going 1-2 with 5 saves, a 5.05 ERA (32 ER, 57.0 IP), 37 walks and 65 strikeouts. He will make his season debut with Seattle in his next appearance.

Taylor has appeared in parts of 2 Major League seasons with the Mariners (2024-25), going 0-0 with 1 save, a 5.88 ERA (17 ER, 26.0 IP), 10 walks and 27 strikeouts in 29 games.

He was selected by the Mariners in the 20th round of the 2021 MLB First-Year Player Draft, but did not sign and was again selected by the Mariners in the 12th round of the 2022 MLB First-Year Player Draft. He has pitched in 4 minor league seasons in the Mariners organization (2023-c), combining to go 8-11 with a 4.18 ERA (86 ER, 185.0 IP), 99 walks, 221 strikeouts, a 1.38 WHIP and 36 saves in 180 games. The 6-foot, 200-pound right-handed pitcher was born in Fontana, California.

Muñoz, (on-DRACE moon-yoce), 27, appeared in 61 games for Seattle this season, going 5-6 with 28 saves, a 4.24 ERA (27 ER, 57.1 IP), 24 walks and 89 strikeouts.

Muñoz’s 105 saves with Seattle are the third most in franchise history, trailing only Kazuhiro Sasaki (129 SV) and Edwin Díaz (109 SV).

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound closer has recorded 75+ strikeouts in four seasons (2022, '24-26), the most among relievers in franchise history, ahead of Edwin Díaz (3, 2016-18), Arthur Rhodes (3, 2000-02) and Bobby Ayala (3, 1994-95, '97).

The Los Mochis, Mexico native has appeared in 7 Major League seasons with San Diego (2019) and Seattle (2021-c), going 18-29 with 106 saves and a 2.76 ERA (97 ER, 316.2.0 IP) with 128 walks and 443 strikeouts. Muñoz was acquired by the Mariners, along with INF Ty France, OF Taylor Trammell and C Luis Torrens from San Diego in exchange for C Austin Nola, RHP Dan Altavilla and RHP Austin Adams on Aug. 31, 2020.
