SEATTLE – Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Justin Hollander announced today the following roster moves:
- Brendan Donovan, INF/OF, reinstated from 10-day Injured List (left groin muscle strain).
- Taylor Ward (#27), OF, reports to club.
- Seranthony Domínguez (#58), RHP, reports to club.
- Jhonny Pereda, C, recalled from Triple-A Tacoma.
- Mitch Garver, C, released from roster.
- Rob Refsnyder, OF, released from roster.
- Stuart Fairchild, OF, designated for assignment.
The Mariners active roster is now full at 26 players. The Mariners 40-man roster is now at 36 players.
Donovan, 29, has been on the Injured List since May 17 (retroactive to May 16) with a left groin muscle strain, his second stint on the IL in 2026 after spending April 20 (retroactive to April 18)-May 8 on the IL with the same injury. He appeared in 10 games during his most recent rehab assignment with Triple-A Tacoma, High-A Everett and the ACL Mariners.
Over 25 games this season, he is batting .274 (23x84) with 9 runs, 4 doubles, 1 triple, 3 home runs, 8 RBI and 11 walks, reaching base a .386 clip with a .839 OPS in 101 plate appearances.
Donovan spent his first 4 seasons (2022-25) with the St. Louis Cardinals and was acquired by Seattle on Feb. 2, 2026 as part of a three-team trade with the Tampa Bay Rays. Defensively, he has appeared exclusively at third base for the Mariners but has also played second base, left field, right field, first base, and shortstop throughout his career. Donovan won a Gold Glove Award in 2022 and made the NL All-Star team in 2025.
In 517 career games between St. Louis (2022-2025) and Seattle (2026-c), he is batting. 282 (521x1849) with 250 runs, 101 doubles, 6 triples, 43 home runs, 210 RBI, 193 walks and 16 stolen bases, reaching base at a .362 clip and slugging .413 for a .775 OPS.
Ward, 32, was acquired yesterday from the Baltimore Orioles in exchange for RHP Alex Hoppe and minor league RHPs Brock Moore and Harrison Kreiling. Ward has appeared in 111 games this season with Baltimore, batting .246 (101x410) with 20 doubles, 7 home runs, 30 RBI, 87 walks, a .383 OBP and slugging .346 (.730 OPS). He leads the American League in walks and ranks 6th in on-base percentage. He also ranks 4th in the Majors with a 17.2% walk rate. Ward has been an excellent defender in left field this season, recording 6 defensive runs saved (Sports Info Solutions).
The right-handed hitting outfielder is coming off a 2025 season which saw him record career-highs in home runs (36), doubles (31), RBI (103) and slugging percentage (.475). Since 2021, Ward is batting .250 (658x2,633) with 389 runs, 132 doubles, 6 triples, 113 home runs, 353 RBI, 344 walks, getting on base at a .341 clip and slugging .433 for a .774 OPS and a 116 OPS+. Among right-handed hitters with at least 3,000 plate appearances over that span, he ranks 17th in OPS+ and 11th in OBP.
Ward is a veteran of 9 Major League seasons with the Angels (2018-25) and Orioles (2026). He was originally selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 1st round (26th overall) of the 2015 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Fresno State (CA).
Domínguez, 31, was acquired from the Chicago White Sox on Saturday along with minor league catcher Boston Smith, minor league outfielder Nolan Jones and cash considerations in exchange for right-handed pitcher Luis Castillo. He has appeared in 42 games for the White Sox this season, going 4-3 with 12 saves, a 4.10 ERA (17 ER, 37.1 IP), 23 walks and 45 strikeouts. Domínguez’s 10.85 strikeouts-per-9-innings ranks 15th among American League relievers with at least 30.0 innings pitched this season. Domínguez is signed through the 2027 season.
The 6-foot-1 righty has appeared in parts of 8 Major League seasons with the Phillies (2018-24), Orioles (2024-25), Blue Jays (2025) and White Sox (2026), going 19-17 with 52 saves, a 3.57 ERA (136 ER, 343.1 IP), 158 walks and 405 strikeouts. The Esperanza, Dominican Republic native was originally signed by the Philadelphia Phillies on October 6, 2011.
Pereda, 30, was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on June 16. He has appeared in 19 games with the Mariners this season, batting .270 (17x63) with 8 runs, 2 home runs, 4 RBI and 4 walks with an .689 OPS. He previously recorded a career-high 9-game hitting streak from May 29-June 12.
The Venezuela native has appeared in 51 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, batting .319 (58x182) with 27 runs, 13 doubles, 3 home runs and 21 RBI, reaching base at a .402 clip and slugging .440 for an .842 OPS.
Pereda was acquired by the Mariners on Jan. 27 from the Minnesota Twins in exchange for cash considerations. He has made Major League appearances with the Marlins (2024), Athletics (2025), Twins (2025) and Mariners (2026). He originally signed with the Chicago Cubs as an international free agent on April 1, 2013 and has also spent time in the Cubs, Giants and Reds organizations.
Garver, 35, appeared in 50 games with Seattle this season. He signed a minor league contract with Seattle on Feb. 26 and was selected to the Major League roster on March 25.
The 6-foot-1, 220-pound catcher has appeared in parts of 10 Major League seasons with Minnesota (2017-21) and Texas (2022-23) and Seattle (2024-26), batting a career .229 (497x2169) with 301 runs, 95 doubles, 7 triples, 110 home runs, 324 RBI and 6 stolen bases, getting on base at a .325 clip and slugging .432 (.756 OPS) in 701 career games.
Garver was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico and was originally drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 9th round of the 2013 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of the University of New Mexico.
Refsnyder, 35, appeared in 53 games with the Mariners this season. He was on the Injured List from June 29-July27 with right knee inflammation and made 7 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma on a rehab assignment.
The 5-foot-11, right-handed hitter spent time on the Paternity List from April 14-16. Refsnyder signed a 1-year Major League contract with Seattle on Dec. 22, 2025.
Refsnyder has appeared in parts of 11 Major League seasons with the Yankees (2015-17), Blue Jays (2017), Rays (2018), Rangers (2020), Twins (2021), Red Sox (2022-25) and Mariners (2026). Over 594 career games played, he is batting .246 (359x1459) with 197 runs, 74 doubles, 3 triples, 37 home runs, 165 RBI and 22 stolen bases.
Fairchild, 30, was selected from Triple-A Tacoma on Aug. 1 and made one appearance with Seattle as a pinch runner on Aug. 2 vs. Minnesota, scoring the winning run in the 7-6 walk-off.
The right-handed hitting outfielder has appeared in 12 games with Triple-A Tacoma this season, posting a 1.058 OPS in 53 plate appearances. He was signed to a minor league contract by the Mariners on July 5 after spending time in the Cleveland Guardians organization earlier this season.
The Seattle native attended Seattle Preparatory School and previously spent time in the Mariners organization in 2022, which included three games in the Majors with Seattle. He was selected by the Cincinnati Reds in the 2nd round of the 2017 MLB First-Year Player Draft out of Wake Forest University (NC). Fairchild has spent big league time with the Arizona Diamondbacks (2021), Mariners (2022), San Francisco Giants (2022), Reds (2022-24), Atlanta Braves (2025) and Guardians (2026), batting .221 (135x610) with 94 runs, 33 doubles, 4 triples, 18 homers, 69 RBI, 27 stolen bases and 62 walks in 291 games.
