SEATTLE -- For the first time since 2004, the Mariners have been selected to appear on ESPN's Sunday Night Baseball telecast, as their July 31 game against the Cubs at Wrigley Field was designated for the national time slot.
The start time for that Sunday finale of a three-game Interleague series has now been set for 5 p.m. PT.
The last time Seattle appeared on Sunday Night Baseball was June 6, 2004, when the Mariners beat the White Sox, 5-4, at Safeco Field.
Dan Shulman will call the game for ESPN alongside analysts Aaron Boone and Jessica Mendoza, as well as reporter Buster Olney.
For the Mariners, the game will conclude an eventful 10-day road trip that sees them visit Toronto and Pittsburgh prior to hitting Wrigley Field for just the second time in franchise history, the other coming in 2007. Additionally, Ken Griffey Jr. will become the club's first player inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on July 24 in Cooperstown, N.Y., while the team is playing in Toronto.
