JUPITER, Fla. -- Marlins center fielder Christian Yelich's Spring Training ended one day earlier than expected.
Miami scratched Yelich from Saturday's Grapefruit League finale against Detroit because of stiffness in his legs.
"I'm fine," Yelich said. "I just had trouble getting loose today. There's not a reason to really push it for three innings. I'm good to go."
Brandon Barnes, a non-roster invitee to Marlins camp, replaced Yelich in the lineup.
Yelich was at the ballpark on Saturday and signed autographs on the field prior to the game.
Miami opens the season at Washington on Monday, with first pitch scheduled for 1:05 p.m. ET.
"I'm good," Yelich said. "I'll be working out in D.C. [Sunday]."
A key member of Team USA's gold medal-winning club, Yelich hit .310 in the World Baseball Classic earlier this spring to earn All-Tournament honors. He hit .345 with two homers and seven RBIs in 29 Grapefruit League at-bats.
A career .293 hitter who won a Gold Glove in 2014 while playing left field, Yelich is moving to center field for the 2017 season, with former center fielder Marcell Ozuna sliding to left field.
Barnes is not expected to break camp with the big league club. Manager Don Mattingly said the team doesn't intend to announced its Opening Day roster until Sunday.
