Marlins prospect Harrison to Minor League IL

May 29th, 2019

MIAMI -- Marlins outfield prospect Monte Harrison, trending towards his first big league callup, suffered an injury setback while playing at Triple-A New Orleans.

Harrison, who hasn’t played since Saturday, is being placed on the 10-day Minor League injured list with a hamstring strain.

Ranked by MLB Pipeline as Miami’s No. 3 prospect, Harrison has been a standout at New Orleans, splitting time in center and right field.

In 43 games with the Baby Cakes, Harrison has a slash line of .288/.386/.472 with seven home runs and 18 RBIs. He’s also stolen 19 bases, while being caught just one time.

Since Saturday, Harrison has been day-to-day. But rather than risk anything that could lead to a longer injury stay, the organization placed 23-year-old on the 10-day injured list.

On MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 list, Harrison is ranked 95th.

The Marlins acquired Harrison, along with Lewis Brinson, Isan Diaz and Jordan Yamamoto, from the Brewers in January of 2018 for Christian Yelich.
