Though the Marlins went from an improbable playoff appearance in 2020 to 95 losses last season, there still were positive signs for the franchise's future. Trevor Rogers made the All-Star Game and finished second in the National League Rookie of the Year voting, while Jazz Chisholm and Jesús Sánchez also graduated to the big leagues. Miami's farm system looked as strong as ever, particularly in terms of quality starting pitching.

The Marlins open 2022 tied with the Mariners and Pirates for the most Top 100 Prospects with six. That total also matches their franchise high from 2013, when José Fernández and Christian Yelich were headed toward superstardom.

Four of those six Top 100 guys are right-handers who could start making an impact in the Majors in the next couple of years. Edward Cabrera, Max Meyer and Sixto Sánchez (if healthy) all could crack Miami's 2022 rotation, while fast-rising Eury Perez might get there before he turns 21 in early 2024.

If Perez's rapid development was the best thing that happened in Marlins prospectdom last year, then five-tool shortstop Kahlil Watson's arrival via the Draft was a close second. The Pirates considered Watson with the top overall pick before he unexpectedly fell to Miami at No. 16.

Jump: Eury Perez, RHP (2021: 27 | 2022: 4) -- Making his pro debut at age 18, he recorded a 1.96 ERA, .158 opponent average and 108/26 K/BB ratio in 78 innings while reaching High-A.

Fall: Braxton Garrett, LHP (2021: 9 | 2022: 21) -- The seventh overall pick in the 2016 Draft hasn't been able to secure a role in Miami's rotation and his stuff regressed last year as he shuttled back and forth from Triple-A.
