Royals nearing deal with Harvey (reports)

KANSAS CITY -- The Royals could be on the brink of signing veteran right-hander Matt Harvey, according to multiple reports.

A source confirmed to MLB.com that Harvey, 31, could be to signed to a Minor League deal, and thus report to the Royals’ satellite camp at T-Bones Park in Kansas City.

Jon Heyman of MLB Network first reported the two sides were close. The cub has not confirmed.

Harvey had Tommy John surgery in 2013, and then had thoracic outlet syndrome surgery in 2016.

Harvey, who was 13-8 with a 2.71 ERA in 2015, pitched against the Royals in Games 1 and 5 of the 2015 World Series. Harvey pitched in 12 games for the Angels last year and had a 7.09 ERA.
