Matthew Boyd will start for the Cubs in Tuesday's Game 1 of the National League Wild Card Series against the Padres at Petco Park, the team announced on Monday.
Boyd was 10-5 with a 3.91 ERA for the season. His last start came on Thursday, when he allowed one run on five hits in seven innings against the Marlins in a postseason-clinching game for the Cubs.
The 35-year-old is 2-3 in seven career postseason games (six starts). He started against the Padres in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series last year, allowing one run in 4 1/3 innings.
