MILWAUKEE -- Max Muncy exited Friday night’s game against the Brewers at American Family Field in the eighth inning after getting hit by a pitch on his right wrist.
The 95.5 mph sinker from Aaron Ashby ran inside while Muncy tried to get out of the way, and appeared to hit the knob of the bat as well as Muncy’s wrist. He attempted to stay in the game initially, heading up the first-base line, but stopped halfway and went down into a crouch as manager Dave Roberts and a trainer met him to examine his wrist/hand area.
The Dodgers didn’t have an update on Muncy at the time of final out. He was replaced by Santiago Espinal, who remained at third base for the remainder of the game.
Muncy leads Los Angeles with 12 homers and a .515 slugging percentage so far this season. Any long-term injury would leave the Dodgers without a significant piece in the middle of their lineup.
