WEST SACRAMENTO -- The Athletics reinstated infielder Max Muncy from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Darell Hernaiz to Triple-A Las Vegas, the club announced on Monday.
Muncy was batting .239 with a .710 OPS in 26 games with the A's when he was placed on the IL April 28 retroactive to April 26 with a fractured left hand. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Las Vegas on May 30 and went 10-for-27 (.370) with six runs, two doubles, three home runs and nine RBI in seven games. The 23-year-old right-handed hitter made three starts at designated hitter, two at shortstop and two at third base.
Hernaiz was on the A’s Opening Day roster and was hitting .237 with a home run, seven RBI and a .606 OPS in 47 games. He had started 21 of the A’s last 25 games at shortstop following the injury to Jacob Wilson, and also made starts at third base and second base.
