It's like déjà vu all over again with Maximum (hard-hit rate) Muncys

Happy early birthday, Yogi: It's like déjà vu all over again with the Maxes Muncy.

Just in time for Berra's birthday tomorrow, we've got another eerie parallel between the Dodgers' and the A's . Another Muncy-ism, if you will.

In case you forgot, or somehow didn't know: MLB has two Max Muncys. They are not related. But they are connected, through some deep thread of the Muncy-verse:

Both Max Muncys are third basemen.

Both Max Muncys were drafted by the A's (the veteran Muncy in 2012, the young Muncy in 2021).

Both Max Muncys have the same birthday: Aug. 25 (the senior Muncy was born in 1990, the junior Muncy in 2002).

And now? The two Max Muncy's are right next to each other on the 2026 hard-hit rate leaderboard.

And they're not just right next to each other on the leaderboard, they're both in the top 10 overall in the Majors.

The A's Max Muncy ranks ninth in MLB with a 56.1% hard-hit rate, just behind Aaron Judge. The Dodgers' Max Muncy is right behind his Muncy counterpart with a 55.4% hard-hit rate, tied for 10th in MLB.

We've come to expect that from the older Muncy, a two-time All-Star and three-time World Series champion with L.A. But we guess the younger Muncy has that Max Muncy hard-hitting DNA in him, too … even if he technically doesn't.
