Dominican outfielder Mel Rojas Jr., son of former Major League Baseball pitcher Mel Rojas and great-nephew of Felipe Alou, was named the 2020 Most Valuable Player of the Korean Professional Baseball League (KBO).

KT Wiz outfielder Mel Rojas Jr. (son of former MLB pitcher Mel Rojas, grand-nephew of Felipe Alou) was named MVP of the Korean Baseball League after hitting .349 and leading the league with 47 HR and 135 RBI.

Rojas, 30, hit .349 and led the league with 47 homers, 135 RBIs and a 1.097 OPS in 142 games (628 plate appearances) for KT Wiz in 2020. This is his fourth season in the KBO, all four coming with KT Wiz.
Rojas, who fell five batting average points short of winning the Triple Crown, is considered the first Latin American player to be recognized as a KBO MVP.
Rojas played eight seasons in the Minor Leagues with the Pirates (2010-16) and the Braves ('16-17).
