Mets acquire infielders J.D. Davis & Cody Bohanek from Houston

The New York Mets announced today that the club has acquired infielder J.D. Davis and minor league infielder Cody Bohanek from the Houston Astros in exchange for minor league outfielder Ross Adolph, minor league infielder Luis Santana and minor league catcher Scott Manea.

Davis, 25, has five homers, six doubles, 12 RBI in 66 major league games with the Astros over the last two years. He made 14 starts at third base, eight starts at first base and three starts in left field for Houston last season. Davis won the Pacific Coast League batting title last year, hitting .342 (114-333) with Fresno.

"J.D. is a versatile offensive talent," Mets General Manager Brodie Van Wagenen said. "He's young, had success vs. lefties and he'll provide depth at the corner positions."

Davis was the Astros third-round pick in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft. He had 25 doubles, 17 homers and 81 RBI in 85 games for Fresno while slashing at .342/.406/.583 in 2018. 

The 6-3, 225-pounder has been a mid-season minor league All-Star in each of the last three years. He had 23 doubles, 26 homers and 78 RBI in 103 minor league games in 2017. Davis slashed at .282/.345/.527 with a .872 OPS in the minors in 2017.

Davis has batted .350 (93-266) with 27 home runs vs. left-handers over the last three minor league seasons.

He has slashed at .292/.362/.521 with a .884 OPS, 126 doubles, 105 home runs and 393 RBI in 507 career minor league games.

Bohanek, 23, has 17 doubles, 18 stolen bases, nine homers, 55 RBI and 85 runs scored in 177 career minor league games.

Adolph, 22, was the Mets 12th-round pick in 2018 and batted .276 with nine doubles, 12 triples, seven homers and 35 RBI in 61 games for Brooklyn (A) of the New York-Penn League.

Santana, 19, hit .348 with 13 doubles, four homers and 35 RBI in 53 games with Kingsport (R) of the Appalachian League in 2018.

Manea, 23, batted .261 with 23 doubles, 12 homers and 53 RBI in 100 games for Columbia (A) of the South Atlantic League last year.
