NEW YORK -- The Dodgers rallied in the ninth to erase a four-run deficit, but Curtis Granderson saved the best of the drama for last. Granderson launched a walk-off home run over the wall in right field to give the Mets a 6-5 victory over Los Angeles on Friday night in front of a nostalgic, sellout crowd at Citi Field that was on hand in part to begin a weekend-long celebration for the 30th anniversary of the 1986 World Series championship team.
Granderson's home run -- his first walk-off blast since 2005 -- came moments after the Dodgers put together a four-run top of the ninth off Mets closer Jeurys Familia, the final blow being a bases-clearing double off the bat of second baseman Chase Utley with two away.

"You're always shocked when Jeurys doesn't come in and slam the door, but look, we had a chance to win the game in the last inning and we did it," Mets manager Terry Collins said. "We'll take it and get ready for tomorrow."
Dodgers top prospect Julio Urias made his Major League debut, but it did not last long. The Mets scored three runs off the 19-year-old left-hander in the first and chased him out of the game after he tossed 81 pitches over 2 2/3 innings.

"I will never forget everything that happened in this game because this is the happiest day of my life," said Urias, the first teenager to start a game since Felix Hernandez in 2005. "I think there's a reason why the team called me up. Baseball isn't easy, and I'm going to continue to work so next time I can get those results."

Jacob deGrom put together one of his best starts of the season, allowing just one run on three hits while tying a season high with seven strikeouts over seven innings.

"Too many times during a game we go dry with a lot of non-competitive at-bats and quick outs and we're not playing as an offensive unit, as one," said Dodgers manager Dave Roberts. "We give those guys too many quick outs."

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Bounce-back blast: After tracking down Utley's double in front of the wall in right-center and watching all three runners come in to score to knot things up at 5, Granderson had to refocus and set his sights on his leadoff at-bat in the bottom of the ninth. After fouling of a 96-mph four-seam fastball on the first pitch of the at-bat, he turned on Pedro Baez's second fastball and put an end to the game. More >

"The fans did a good job of keeping us motivated [after the top of the ninth]," Granderson said. "We had a packed house here for the '86 weekend, which is definitely good."
Forgotten rally: Sandwiched between Urias' brief start and Granderson's walk-off was a pretty impressive Dodgers tying rally off Familia. One out after singles by Adrian Gonzalez and Howie Kendrick, Yasiel Puig singled to load the bases and Yasmani Grandal walked to score a run. Quick out of the gates: With Urias still gathering his bearings on the mound, the Mets made sure to strike early against the 19-year-old lefty. Five of the first seven Mets to come to the plate reached base and New York managed to plate three runs on an RBI double by Neil Walker and a two-run single by Juan Lagares.

Urias was the youngest Dodger to make his debut as a starting pitcher since Rex Barney in 1943 and the youngest National League starting pitcher since Dwight Gooden in 1984. The last Dodger to start a game younger than Urias was Dick Calmus in 1963. Urias also is the youngest Dodger to make his debut since Adrian Beltre in 1998.

WHAT'S NEXT
Dodgers:Kenta Maeda's last start turned into the 17-inning marathon in San Diego. He pitched four hitless innings, then allowed three runs in the fifth. He opened the season 3-0 with a 0.36 ERA, but is 0-3 with a 6.08 ERA since. Maeda will take the ball in the second game of the series against the Mets on Saturday at 4:15 p.m. PT.
Mets:Noah Syndergaard (5-2, 1.94 ERA) will look for his fourth consecutive win when he takes the Citi Field mound against the Dodgers at 7:15 p.m. ET. The right-hander will face Los Angeles for the second time this season. He picked up his third win of the year on May 11 after tossing eight innings of two-run ball.
