Cespedes signing frees front office to pursue trade for Bruce or Granderson

Mets general manager Sandy Alderson arrived in town on Sunday afternoon, and he'll spend his time here canvassing the market for Bruce. Though the Mets have spent the past week fielding offers on as well, trying to rebalance their roster with Cespedes on board, team officials have made no secret that they prefer to deal Bruce.

The team also plans to address other issues at the Meetings, including a bullpen that could use another arm or two prior to Spring Training. The Mets will shop around the free-agent and trade markets, seeking to accomplish that goal.
Manager Terry Collins will be in National Harbor as well, ready to discuss the Cespedes signing, the outfield alignment and perhaps his own future. Collins has already said this offseason that 2017 could be his last year at the helm, meaning he may be attending his final Winter Meetings.
