Mets sign first-round Draft pick Kay

The Mets have signed the second of their two first-round picks from the 2016 Draft, Connecticut left-hander Anthony Kay, the club announced on Wednesday.
The 21-year-old Kay, whom the Mets took with the 31st overall pick, agreed to a deal worth $1.1 million, according to MLB.com's Jim Callis, well under the slot value for the No. 31 pick, which is $1,972,100. A physical had raised some concerns about Kay's elbow.

Kay, a polished college pitcher, was rated the No. 43 overall prospect entering the Draft by MLBPipeline.com. He attended the same high school, Ward Melville High School on Long Island, as current Mets left-hander .

The Mets have now signed all 11 of their picks from the first 10 rounds of the Draft.
