MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today acquired right-handed relief pitcher Victor Vodnik from the Colorado Rockies in exchange for infielder Connor Norby and Minor League right-handed pitcher Aiden May.
Vodnik, 26, owns a 3-3 record and a 5.25 ERA (21 ER/36.0 IP) with 19 walks and 26 strikeouts in 33 relief appearances with the Rockies this season, including four saves in seven opportunities. Over his last 15 appearances since June 15, he holds a 2.50 ERA (5 ER/18.0 IP) and has not allowed a walk in seven-consecutive appearances since July 17. According to Baseball Savant, he ranks in the 96th percentile in Average Fastball Velocity (98.6) and the 95th percentile in ground-ball percentage (55.6).
In 155 games across parts of four Major League seasons with Colorado (2023-26), the right-hander owns a 13-10 record with a 4.31 ERA (81 ER/169.0 IP), 85 walks, 152 strikeouts, and 23 saves. In 2025, he recorded a career-high 10 saves while posting the lowest home ERA in Coors Field history by a Rockie at 1.33 (4 ER/27.0 IP), among pitchers with at least 25.0 innings pitched.
A native of Whittier, Calif., Vodnik established career highs in innings pitched (73.2 IP) strikeouts (65), and walks (37) during his rookie campaign in 2024. He was acquired by Colorado from Atlanta on July 24, 2023, and made his Major League debut later that season on Sept. 9 at San Francisco. Originally selected by the Braves in the 14th round of the 2018 First-Year Player Draft out of Rialto High School (Rialto, Calif.), he has spent his entire Major League career with the Rockies.
Norby, 26, slashed .205/.313/.325 (41x200) with 12 doubles, four home runs, 16 RBI, and 24 walks in 65 games with Miami this season. The infielder has also hit .265 (22x83) with an .847 OPS in 23 games with Triple-A Jacksonville this season after being optioned on June 25. In 198 career games between Miami (189 games) and Baltimore (nine games), the 5-foot-10 native of Brooklyn Park, Minn., owns a .234/.302/.383 (161x689) slash line with 38 doubles, one triple, 21 home runs, and 70 RBI. Norby, who was acquired by Miami from Baltimore in July 2024, was originally selected by the Orioles in the second round of the 2021 First-Year Player Draft out of East Carolina University (Greenville, N.C.).
May, 23, is ranked as Miami’s No. 27 prospect by MLB Pipeline and owns a 4-3 record with a 3.80 ERA (29 ER/68.2 IP) in 14 starts with High-A Beloit this season. The 6-foot-1 right-hander made his professional debut with the organization in 2025 and combined to go 1-1 with a 2.63 ERA (8 ER/27.1 IP) in 10 appearances between Single-A Jupiter (six games) and the FCL Marlins (four games). The Albuquerque, N.M., native was originally selected by Miami in the CB-B Round (80th overall) of the 2024 First-Year Player Draft out of Oregon State (Corvallis, Ore.).
