MIAMI – The Miami Marlins today acquired right-handed relief pitcher Brandan Bidois and Minor League prospects infielder Hyun Seung Lee and outfielder Brian Sánchez from the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for right-handed relief pitcher Lake Bachar.
Bidois, 25, made his Major League debut with Pittsburgh on May 13, 2026 at Colorado and has posted a 6.32 ERA (11 ER/15.2 IP) with 12 walks and 20 strikeouts in 15 relief appearances over two stints with the Pirates (May 12-June 12 and June 13-July 1). The right-handed reliever has also made 19 appearances with Triple-A Indianapolis this season, going 4-2 with a 8.10 ERA (18 ER/20.0 IP), 17 walks, and 26 strikeouts.
Born in Brisbane, Australia, Bidois was recognized as the Pirates’ 2025 Kent Tekulve Reliever of the Year after going 8-0 with seven saves, a 0.74 ERA (5 ER/61.0 IP), 67 strikeouts, and a .110 opponents’ AVG (22x200) in 40 appearances across four levels, including nine scoreless appearances (13.0 IP) to finish his season at the Triple-A level. His 0.74 ERA led the Pirates’ system and was also the lowest ERA in all of Minor League Baseball, among relief pitchers with at least 60.0 innings pitched.
In 111 appearances (three starts) over parts of five Minor League seasons, he owns a 2.89 ERA (45 ER/140.1 IP), 80 walks, and 187 strikeouts. Bidois was originally signed by Pittsburgh as a non-drafted free agent on Sept. 21, 2019.
Lee, 18, has slashed .264/.363/.471 (46x174) in 50 games this season between the FCL Pirates (35 games) and Single-A Bradenton (15 games). The left-handed hitting infielder led the FCL Pirates in hits (38), home runs (6), RBI (40), and OPS (.965) in his first season stateside after making his professional debut with the DSL Pirates Black in 2025. Last season, he led his team in walks (38) and swiped 17 stolen bases in 21 attempts.
A native of Seoul, Korea, Lee was signed by Pittsburgh as an International free agent in January 2025. Over his two Minor League seasons, he has split time defensively between third base (508.2 innings) and shortstop (117.1 innings).
Sánchez, 22, is slashing .254/.340/.431 (72x283) with 53 runs, 17 doubles, three triples, nine home runs, and 40 RBI in 93 games with High-A Greensboro during his first season with the Pirates organization. The 6-foot-3 outfielder was previously acquired by Pittsburgh from New York-AL on July 31, 2025, but missed the final two months of the season due to injury.
Over parts of four Minor League seasons with the Pirates (2026), Yankees (2024-25), and Brewers (2023) organizations, the Cumanacoa, Venezuela native owns a .279/.372/.453 (223x799) slash line with 56 doubles, 16 triples, 17 home runs, and 127 RBI.
Bachar, 31, owns a 1-2 record and 3.84 ERA (25 ER/58.2 IP) in 38 appearances (four starts) with the Marlins in 2026, with 21 walks, 61 strikeouts, and two saves in three opportunities. Over three seasons with Miami from 2024-26, the Winfield, Ill., native posted a 9-5 record with a 3.88 ERA (60 ER/139.0 IP) in 101 appearances (five starts) with five saves. The right-handed pitcher, who was claimed off waivers by Miami from San Diego on Sept. 3, 2024, was originally selected by the Padres in the fifth round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft out of the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater.
