ATLANTA -- Year six of Marlins Park promises to be eventful. Miami will be hosting the World Baseball Classic in March, the All-Star Game in July, and the Marlins' home opener will be on April 11 against the Braves.
Major League Baseball announced its entire 2017 schedule on Wednesday, and the Marlins will start their season off at Washington on April 3 at Nationals Park. It's also a special year because it marks the 20th anniversary of Miami's 1997 World Series championship.
The Marlins have made great strides in 2016, and are winding the year down with an outside chance at reaching the playoffs. What this year has done is solidify the foundation of what should be a contending team in 2017.
Manager Don Mattingly will be entering his second season at the helm, and the club will open on the road with three games at Washington, followed by April 7-9 at the Mets.

The home opener will be on Tuesday, April 11, with two against the Braves before the Mets are in Miami from April 13-15.
Marlins Park, which opened in 2012, will host the World Baseball Classic March 9-12. Team USA, Canada, Colombia and the Dominican Republic are in the bracket.

The All-Star Game will be July 11 at Marlins Park, with the Futures Game on July 9 and Home Run Derby on July 10.
In Interleague play, the Marlins will face the American League West.
The Marlins have a club option on Ichiro Suzuki for 2017, and if they exercise it, Ichiro will play at Seattle for the first time while with the Marlins April 17-19. The trip moves on to San Diego (April 21-23). That three-city trip starts off on the West Coast and winds up at Philadelphia on April 25-27.

The annual Citrus Series will take place over four days and two cities. Miami will host the Rays May 1-2 and be at Tropicana Field May 3-4.
The Angels, the only team not yet to play at Marlins Park, will be in Miami for three games, May 26-28, providing the opportunity for South Florida fans to see All-Star Mike Trout.
The Marlins will be away for 10 games heading to the All-Star Break, from June 30-July 9. They will be at Milwaukee for three games, then four at St. Louis and three at the Giants.
Coming out of the All-Star Break, Miami is at home for six games, starting with the Dodgers at Marlins Park July 14-16.
In September, the Marlins will wrap up their road schedule out West, with three games at Arizona (Sept. 22-24) and three games at Colorado (Sept. 25-27).
The 2017 regular season concludes with four games against the Braves (Sept. 28-Oct. 1).
