ARLINGTON -- Indians left fielder Michael Brantley is expected to take batting practice Saturday after resting his surgically repaired right shoulder since Monday, manager Terry Francona said.
Brantley will be on the 15-day disabled list on Opening Day but could return soon.
He appeared in two Spring Training games before being shut down by shoulder soreness. He hit .310 in 137 games last year and led the American League with 45 doubles.
"He had a real good day today in his checkup," manager Terry Francona said. "We'll know when the season starts. ... Brant's one of the better bats in the league, and we miss that."
