The Rockies activated Mickey Moniak from the 10-day injured list and optioned fellow outfielder Sterlin Thompson to Triple-A Albuquerque before Monday night's series opener against the Red Sox at Coors Field.
Moniak had been out since May 22 with right ankle tendinitis, which he sustained when he crashed into the center-field wall in the first inning of a May 12 game against the Pirates.
Moniak played three games with Albuquerque as part of his rehab assignment, hitting .077 with one double, a run scored and three strikeouts in 13 at-bats.
Before landing on the IL, the 28-year-old former No. 1 overall Draft pick was off to a strong start, slashing .280/.335/.607 with 12 homers and 28 RBIs in 43 games.
Thompson, ranked by MLB Pipeline as the Rockies' No. 15 prospect, hit .232 with a pair of homers in 27 games since his initial callup on May 15.
