Major League Baseball is partnering with EVERFI to invite students to participate in the Black History Month Challenge, which includes the chance to win a college scholarship worth up to $10,000.

The Challenge, open to everyone ages 13-18, asks students to participate in a 30-minute course before submitting a short essay detailing what they learned from the program. The writer of the first-place essay will earn a $10,000 scholarship, while second place takes home a $6,000 scholarship and third place wins a $4,000 scholarship.

MLB's Black History Month Challenge is intended to help students gain a better understanding of what's currently happening in the world by reflecting on what has happened in the past. The 30-minute interactive course will explore some of the lesser-known stories about the Black experience in the United States, while also celebrating some of the enduring moments and accomplishments in Black history.

Students will have the opportunity to learn about a number of topics, including Juneteenth, affirmative action and the Tulsa Race Massacre, among many others.
