Major League Baseball and the Major League Baseball Players Association jointly announced today the latest COVID-19 testing results conducted under MLB’s COVID-19 Health Monitoring & Testing Plan. The independent Utah laboratory has reported the following results during the past week:

Weekly Monitoring Testing:

  • 10,629 tests conducted, with 10 new positive tests (3 players and 7 staff members); a 0.09% positive rate.

Total Monitoring Testing To Date:

  • 156,276 tests conducted, with 54 total positive tests (30 players and 24 staff members); a 0.03% positive rate. Twenty-two (22) different Clubs have had a Covered Individual test positive during Monitoring Testing.

In addition, MLB and the MLBPA announced today that 12 Clubs have reached the threshold of 85% or more of their Tier 1 Individuals being considered fully vaccinated, which (in consultation with medical experts) will allow for the relaxation of certain health and safety protocols for their Tier 1 Individuals. An additional four (4) Clubs have reached the threshold of 85% or more of their Tier 1 Individuals having received their final dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and the relaxed protocols will apply to their Tier 1 Individuals within the next two weeks once they are considered fully vaccinated. As of today, 83.9% of all Tier 1 Individuals are considered partially or fully vaccinated (i.e., have received at least one vaccine dose), and 77.6% of all Tier 1 Individuals are considered fully vaccinated.
