Major League Baseball today announced the list of 40+ former players scheduled to make appearances at Capital One All-Star Village, including Baseball Hall of Famers Steve Carlton, Rollie Fingers, Fergie Jenkins, Jim Kaat and Fred Lynn, as well as Phillies World Series champions Cole Hamels, Ryan Howard, Jamie Moyer, Jimmy Rollins and Carlos Ruiz.
Capital One All-Star Village, this year taking place at the Pennsylvania Convention Center from July 11th-14th, is the league’s experiential fan festival that features interactive baseball attractions, exclusive merchandise and food from around the league for all ages. In addition to autograph signings, photographs and more with former stars, Phillies legends Howard and Rollins will host a live recording of “The 6-1-1” podcast presented by FanDuel with special guests to be announced.
This year’s thematic of All-Star Village is modeled after the City of Neighborhoods, with different sections of the event portraying various Philadelphia neighborhoods, such as Center City, Fairmount, Fishtown, Old City and South Philly. Modeled as a baseball theme park and produced in conjunction with BaAM Productions, Capital One All-Star Village includes more than 50 unique activities, including Capital One PLAY BALL PARK, the focal point of youth participation at All-Star Village, and a Rookie Leagues area for young fans looking to show off their skills on a miniature diamond. Former Phillies players, Olympic softball stars and Baseball Hall of Famers are expected to attend Capital One All-Star Village to meet fans, sign autographs, take pictures and even step back onto a diamond. In addition to former Major Leaguers appearing throughout All-Star Village, several former softball stars, MLB Youth Ambassadors and notable names in youth baseball are again joining the league at Capital One PLAY BALL PARK to lead young people through a variety of formal and informal clinics and games on the Deer Park, PLAY BALL, and Rookie Leagues Diamonds. PLAY BALL PARK features diamonds, batting cages, pitching tunnels and hitting exhibition attractions like Home Run Derby, where youth can try hitting balls like their favorite sluggers.
