Start your Sundays with baseball on Peacock and NBC.
The weekly MLB Sunday Leadoff game will always be streamed on Peacock while most of the games will also be aired on NBCSN, NBC Sports' cable network. This weekend's matchup features an NL clash between the Reds and D-backs, as Arizona looks to climb back into a Wild Card position.
Here is what you need to know about this showdown.
Reds at D-backs, 4:15 p.m. ET on Peacock and NBCSN
The D-backs, who were tied for the third NL Wild Card spot last week, enter Sunday two games out after a minor 2-4 skid over their past six games. They'll look to get back on track today vs. the Reds, who were in the playoff hunt for most of the season before falling out in recent weeks.
Arizona, with Corbin Carroll and his MLB-best 15 triples leading the charge, can clinch the series with a win. Carroll's speed aside, the D-backs have benefited recently from a rejuvenated Nolan Arenado, who has seven homers and a .957 OPS in August, and a hot Gabriel Moreno, who's hitting .359 with a 1.022 OPS over his past 15 games. On the mound for the D-backs will be lefty Mitch Bratt (1-2, 4.17 ERA), who's allowed more than three earned runs in a game just once this season in eight starts.
The Reds, meanwhile, have a lineup that still presents a challenge for pitchers. The dynamic Elly De La Cruz (.819 OPS, 22 stolen bases) and the power bat of rookie Sal Stewart (27 homers) can make for tough outs, while outfielder JJ Bleday hit for the cycle just last night. Looking to hold the D-backs down will be lefty Andrew Abbott (6-8, 4.07 ERA), who allowed two earned runs over 6 1/3 innings against the Cardinals in his last start.
