The White Sox, two years removed from losing a Modern Era-record 121 games, have been one of this season's most pleasant surprises. They enter Sunday's rubber match in Toronto with a 51-46 record and in first place in the AL Central. They are led by a bunch of young, entertaining power hitters, such as Murakami, Vargas and shortstop Colson Montgomery, all of whom have at least 20 homers. Right-hander Sean Burke will be Chicago's starting pitcher in this matchup, and he has been red hot of late. Over his past five starts, Burke has allowed only six earned runs, five walks and has struck out 42 batters.
While the White Sox have exceeded preseason expectations, the reigning American League champion Blue Jays have not been able to find their footing in 2026. They are in the AL East cellar at 46-52. Team leaders such as Guerrero and George Springer have provided below-league-average offense. Okamoto has been one bright spot, however. Like his countryman Murakami, Okamoto has showcased a ton of pop in his first MLB season, hitting 22 dingers. Rookie starter Trey Yesavage is slated to get the ball for the Blue Jays. He has registered a 3.72 ERA over 14 starts this season.
