But will Abrams even be the best shortstop on the field on Sunday? Maybe not. His counterpart, the electric Elly De La Cruz, is putting up the best offensive numbers of his brief MLB career, with a .274/.356/.504 slash line (133 OPS+), along with 20 homers and 21 stolen bases.
De La Cruz homered in the opening game of the series on Friday, while Abrams notched two hits on Saturday. Washington will vie for the three-game sweep behind right-hander Brad Lord (5-2, 3.81 ERA), as the Reds counter with veteran righty Brady Singer (5-10, 4.67 ERA).
