May 11th, 2020

With people streaming more now than ever before, MLB.TV has a treat for baseball fans looking to get their fill of on-demand baseball content.

Every Tuesday, MLB.TV subscribers will gain access to a new batch of videos, including riveting documentaries, episodes of “This Week in Baseball,” World Series films and much more.

Here’s a look at what’s available and what you can see in the coming weeks, exclusively on MLB.TV.

Documentaries
On June 2, 2010, Tigers right-hander Armando Galarraga’s bid for a perfect game came up short when umpire Jim Joyce ruled the Indians’ Jason Donald safe at first even though it appeared he was out. What followed was a tale of sportsmanship, humility and forgiveness. Relive the story in “A Perfect Game*,” one of six documentaries that was made available on MLB.TV on April 28.

Other available documentaries include “In the Blood,” a look at how Vladimir Guerrero Jr. and Fernando Tatis Jr. followed in their fathers’ footsteps and navigated their way to the big leagues; and “Truth Be Told,” the story of Rick Ankiel’s journey of redemption as he returned to the Majors as an outfielder after his pitching career was derailed by psychological struggles.

You can also check out “Base Ball Discovered,” a documentary exploring the game’s ancestry and origin story; “Set Apart: The Jim Abbott Story,” which focuses on Abbott’s unlikely journey to the Majors after being born with one hand; and “Forever Brothers: The ‘71 Pittsburgh Pirates Story,” covering the team that fielded MLB’s first all-minority lineup and went on to win the World Series.

World Series films
Also available on MLB.TV are a collection of World Series films, chronicling some of the most interesting title-winning teams of the 21st century.

Available films cover the Fall Classics from 2004, when the Red Sox broke the Curse of the Bambino; ’08, which saw the Phillies top the Rays for their first title since 1980; ’14, when the Giants won their third championship in five years behind a legendary Game 7 relief performance by Madison Bumgarner; ’15, when the Royals won it all a year after losing in heartbreaking fashion to San Francisco; and ’16, which saw the Cubs come back from a 3-1 series deficit to defeat the Indians in a thrilling Game 7 to end a 108-year World Series title drought.

This Week in Baseball
TWIB was a weekly program that aired for more than 30 years, featuring recaps, highlights, interviews and more. Now on MLB.TV, you can rewatch 10 TWIB episodes from the 1970s and ’80s. Check them out, if only for another chance to hear Hall of Fame broadcaster Mel Allen’s distinctive voice and that unmistakable theme song.
