BOSTON -- Red Sox right fielder returned to the lineup on Thursday after missing the last two games due to left wrist discomfort. It comes as Boston opened a pivotal four-game series against the Astros.
"I want to play every day and help the team get to where we want to be," said Betts.
Betts exited in the eighth inning of Monday's 6-4 loss to the Blue Jays at Fenway Park with discomfort in the wrist.
"The irritation is out and he was able to swing the bat yesterday and today, so he's good to go," said Red Sox manager John Farrell.
Betts, the club's best all-around player, joined Ted Williams on Monday as the only Red Sox hitters to have 100 or more RBIs in consecutive seasons before turning 25 years old.

"It has been pretty smooth. I just had to give the wrist a couple of days for everything to kick in and then I think everything will be fine," said Betts.
Worth noting
, who sustained a sprain of the PCL in his right knee on Sept. 9 and aggravated it on Monday, completed a series of workouts before Thursday's game. That included running in the outfield and taking batting practice.
"We still have some progressive steps to get to before he'd be back in a game," said Farrell, who noted that Nunez wouldn't have to play in another regular-season game to make the postseason roster.
